Chennai Investor’s Resort In Alappuzha, his House Boat & A Storm!



Meeting with the Investor

Standing near the jetty, surrounded by the tranquil backwaters of Alappuzha, our meeting with an investor of an upcoming resort remains etched in our memory. This investor, a chartered accountant from Chennai, exuded business acumen as we discussed electronic security and automation solutions for his resort.



The Resort and House Boat

Construction of the resort neared completion, the lush waterfront areas near Alappuzha were abuzz with new developments post the success of Kumarakom. During our meeting, we noticed the investor's newly built house boat docked nearby, adding to the picturesque scene of hump teen house boats gracefully plying the backwaters.

The Unexpected Storm

Suddenly, a storm brewed, sending ripples of worry through our conversation. The investor couldn't hide his panic as he glanced at his house boat. Thoughts of insurance coverage for potential damages raced through his mind, while he marveled at the resilience of a large house boat nearby owned by a prominent business house from Mumbai, seemingly untouched by the storm.

Manager's Calmness

In stark contrast to the investor's evident distress, his manager stood unfazed by the howling winds and turbulent waters. While the investor grappled with fears of financial loss, the manager remained detached .

A Happy Arab & Arabic Speakers of Kannur !


 


Introduction

Work has taken us to Malayala Manorama Kannur Unit and we were relatively new with Kannur then. One of the memorable events was that an Arab who was passing by near to Manorama office stops to talk to auto drivers who were waiting for their turn.

The auto drivers flock around him and converse in Arabic.The Arab seems visibly happy with their company and their Arabic skills.

A Pleasant Surprise

He also walks  into Malayala Manorama office and eloquently conversing with the front office person.The front office person, originally from Central Travancore, has many  years of service in Saudi Arabia.He says he has  a good working knowledge of Arabic

"UHF Integrated Boom Barrier for Ambady Villa Owners’ Association, Kochi"

Introduction

Ambady Villa Owners’ Association, Chilavaoor, Kochi  is our Jan 2024 customer for UHF Integrated Parking Boom Barrier , The Barrier installed after their front gate will open automatically  for authorized Vehicles during   Entry & Exit . A fast tag like tag is fixed to vehicle that is configured through an application software for this .

 

Client Site Visit Experience

We had the privilege of organizing a client site visit for Ambady Villa Owners’ Association, inviting Mr. U K Sasidharan, the Secretary, and Mr. Pramod Shabi, the Treasurer, to witness the UHF Integrated Boom Barrier in action at a nearby installation in Kaloor. As esteemed members of the association, their keen interest and thorough evaluation were evident as they engaged with our team and interacted with the on-site security guards.


Decision and Cooperation

Finally, they took a decision in our favor. They extended full cooperation for execution; we completed the work in a very short time and they were very prompt with payments.

It was a pleasant experience working with this Villa Owners Association and we thank them for their business with us.

  • In the late 90's, our company faced challenges with rejections and limited buyers.

  • Muthoot APT Ceramics became our second customer for the Attendance System.

  • We met Mr. Shaju Mathew, their Manager, who introduced us to Mr. Thomas Muthoot, known as Kunju Sir.

  • Thomas Muthoot was a then an young individual using a unique Contessa car.

  • He had a distinct dual-colored painted car that stood out in the Cochin Export Processing Zone.

  • Thomas was a composed listener who preferred to see our Binaini zinc installation personally.

  • He took the time to understand our system and even consulted with Binani Zinc staff for clarifications.

  • Despite his position, he remained humble, just stating he was from 'Kozhenchery'.

Personal Interactions

  • Thomas Muthoot made the decision in our favor, showcasing his fair and just approach.

  • He resided in Panampilly Nagar and was known for his regular morning walks.

Like first love, we do not forget our first customer...

Way back in 1997, we embarked on a journey offering time & attendance automation solutions, popularly known as punching systems. These devices were a common sight in industries with good manpower strength, where employees used card time punching machines. However, we introduced a game-changer - the M/s. Pace Automation Ltd, Madras Barcode Swipe Terminal in Kerala.

The Beginning of a Connection

Our first customer, M/s. Binani Zinc Ltd., located in Edayar, Kochi, marked a significant milestone in our journey. A well-managed organization with proficient departments in Instrumentation, EDP, Personnel, and a dedicated time office, they were in search of an attendance system upgrade. It was during our cold call visits that we caught their attention.

The Technical Evaluation

Led by their astute Instrumentation engineer, Mr. Abdul Saheb, the technical evaluation was a rigorous process. We offered a demo, showcased client referrals from major cities like Madras and Bombay, and left no stone unturned in demonstrating the capabilities of our system.

The Memorable Individuals

From the then VP, Dr. Sasi, who acknowledged our efforts with kind words, to Mr. M S Sreekumar, their GM with whom we still maintain contact, each individual at M/s. Binani Zinc Ltd. left a lasting impression. Names like Mr. Nandakumar, Mr. Vijayakumar, and Mr. Balachandran are etched in our memories, reminding us of the journey we embarked on together.

The Decision and Beyond

After a sales cycle of 6 months, the decision was finally in our favour, making M/s. Binani Zinc Ltd. our referral site. A prominent director from a leading business house even spent half a day visiting their location with us, considering a similar system for his upcoming export factory.

A Journey Worth Remembering

The experience with our first customer was not just a business transaction but a journey filled with learning, growth, and meaningful connections. And while this story ends here, it marks the beginning of many more such relationships to come.

What are the options in the market for a home security system?

I am in the industry of electronic security systems since 1997 and come across enquires from individuals of all walks of life asking me about what kind of security system they can go for their homes. As security is everyone's concern ... I take it as my social responsibility to explain to them about various options ... However many times I am left with a feeling that they have not understood it fully.... I should have explained it better..

Today security system installers are more interested in organizations than individuals hence it is a problem...

People call an electronic security system for home by various names like alarm system.., home security system, burglar alarm system, intrusion alarm system etc ..all mean the same. But the product manufacturers globally name it as intrusion alarm system..

Only very few people seem to be clear about the kind of the system they can go for their homes.

Hence the idea of a blog.
